From Shanghai with Love

Projected art on NYU Tisch Hall

40 West 4th Street, Greenwich Village, New York

Sept 22nd, 2016

Violet Lights Project, as a part of Inauguration Week event in New York University to celebrate Andrew Hamilton as the 16th president, is a projected visual artwork under the stars at Gould Plaza. The project had evolved from an undergraduate film class assignment to an event that would gather individuals from across campus to honor the talents and innovative ideas of the students at NYU.

The piece made by NYU Shanghai was called From Shanghai with Love. As the third and the newest campus of NYU, NYU Shanghai welcomes 300 students from more than 50 countries every year to the heart of China. We work together to build up a community of diversity with shared interest. People from Interactive Media Arts major built up the Meow Space, a instant git sharing and texting site so that students from three main campuses can talk to each other easily. The piece acts as an introduction to NYU Shanghai on the one hand, and a spreading of the slogan "make the world your major".

in collaboration with Yue Sun, Jamie Chua and Kyle Greenberg.
